PLENTY TO SEE AND DO...

Here Are Some Idea's For Some Great Days Out

Nar Valley Cottages are ideally located for easy access to some memorable days out. Whether you want to visit the coast, historic towns or villages, stately home or theme park, they are all within easy reach from the site.

Kings Lynn Town

The Hanseatic town of King’s Lynn was one of England’s most important ports from as early as the 12th century and this maritime past is still very much in evidence today. Fine old merchants’ houses stretch down to the river between cobbled lanes and the elegant Custom House overlooks the harbour. The town’s heritage is reflected in an amazing array of historic buildings and at two magnificent market places: Saturday Market Place, where St Margaret’s Church , designated as a Minster Church in 2011 by the Bishop of Norwich, is surrounded by splendid buildings and Tuesday Market Place, quite possibly one of England’s grandest squares.

Castle Acre

Castle Acre takes its name from the walled castle built in the 12th-century by the Normans.

A rural village in north west Norfolk, it lies four miles north of Swaffham and to the west of the A1065 at the point where the river Nar is crossed by an ancient route known as the Peddars Way.

There is much to see in Castle Acre including the castle ruins and the Cluniac Priory.

Dinosaur Adventure

Weston Park, Lenwade, Norwich, Norfolk, NR9 5JW

Dinosaur Adventure is open daily from 9:30am except Christmas Day and Boxing Day, please note last admission is 1 hour prior to closing.

Let the kids off the leash to go running through this inventive copse trail of fibre-glass dinosaurs and abandoned jeeps within 100 acres of woods and parkland. Mine loved the wooden ranger stations and look-out towers equipped with pretend field radios on which they could report sightings of raptors and rexes before stamping their dinosaur passports (once they have seen them all they collect a medal). There’s also a chance to befriend some living creatures in the Victorian walled garden, where wallabies, sheep, kune kune pigs and donkeys roam, and the Fun Barn, home to the attraction’s rabbit and guinea pig residents. There’s also go karting, an adventure playground and mini golf as well as a very educational Neanderthal Walk where kids learn about tribal behaviour. Check out the Discovery area too where little ones sweep for dinosaur bones in a sandpit.

Fakenham Thursday Market

Fakenham is an historic and attractive Norfolk market town situated half way between Norwich and Kings Lynn. It has been voted the seventh best place to live in the country by Country Life magazine.

The town’s busy Thursday market starts early in the morning and tends to last until mid-afternoon (depending on the weather). There’s always a bargain to be had at Fakenham Market and the stalls are run by local traders as well as those who ‘do the rounds’ across the region. Be sure to catch the Flea market too a section devoted to collectors’ items and bric-a-brac. The Market Place is right in the centre of town, so Thursday’s a good time to leave your car behind and catch a bus in and out!
